Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor : Desmin
Image Description
Desmoplastic small round cell tumors (DSRCT) are characterized by co-expression of epithelial, mesenchymal, and neural markers.
POSITIVE: Majority of the cases are positive for cytokeratin AE1/AE3, EMA, vimentin, desmin (paranuclear dot-like positivity; shown here), WT1 (antibody to carboxy terminus; nuclear expression) and NSE.
NEGATIVE: The tumor cells are negative for CK20, CK5/6, MyoD1, and myogenin.
OCCASIONALLY POSITIVE: The markers that are sometimes positive include: CD99, synaptophysin, chromogranin, neurofilament, S-100 protein, and CA-125.
