The cytologic features can be better appreciated in this high-power view. Intracytoplasmic PAS-positive, diastase-resistant material can sometimes be seen. With electron microscopy, they appear as rhomboid, rod-shaped or spiculated membrane-bound crystalline structures with regular periodicity.
