Neurofibroma : Gross Pathology

Grossly, localized neurofibromas cause fusiform expansion of the nerve when involving large nerve trunks. They are glistening, yellow-tan in appearance with a soft consistency. Unlike schwannomas, secondary degenerative changes are uncommon.
