Image Description

Cut surface shows yellowish-white gritty deposits of hydroxyapatite material in the subcutis within a background of dense fibrous tissue. Some cases contain whitish-yellow, milky fluid which washes away leaving behind cystic spaces. The calcific deposits infiltrate fascia, tendons, and muscle but don't involve the bone or the joint.
