Spindle Cell Lipoma : Differential
Image Description
Differentia Diagnosis of Spindle Cell Lipoma (continued from the previous image):
Schwannoma and neurofibroma (more prominent nuclear palisading than spindle cell lipomas; cells and their nuclei wavier or buckled; positivity for S-100 protein).
Myxoid liposarcomas (numerous lipoblasts; pleomorphic spindle cells; prominent plexiform vasculature; and absence of thick collagen bundles).
This image shows a sparsely cellular spindle cell lipoma consisting of scattered bland spindle cells and mature adipocytes in a myxoid stroma with ropey collagen bundles.
