Image Description

Differential Diagnosis of Myolipoma (continued from the previous image):

Mammary-type myofibroblastoma: It belongs to the 13q/Rb family of tumors and shows Rb loss. The tumor consists of CD34 positive, spindle-shaped, slender, myofibroblastic cells separated by hyalinized collagen bands.

Dedifferentiated Liposarcoma: It presents as a large tumor in deep-seated locations like myolipoma, and may show heterologous smooth muscle differentiation; however, the dedifferentiated foci are usually high-grade with increased mitotic activity. In addition, the adipocytic component shows atypical hyperchromatic cells. There is amplification of 12q13-15 region containing several genes, including MDM2 and CDK4.
