Atypical Lipomatous Tumor/Well-Diff Liposarcoma : Variant Patterns
Image Description
Some atypical lipomatous tumors/well-differentiated liposarcomas (ALT/WDL) have abundant myxoid stroma and may resemble myxoid liposarcoma. However, these tumors lack DDIT3 rearrangements and are not related to myxoid liposarcomas.
Other variant morphologic patterns include the presence of metaplastic elements such as bone (foci resembling parosteal or low-grade intramedullary osteosarcoma), cartilage, and smooth muscle (lipoleiomyosarcoma). There is no impact on prognosis.
