Image Description

Inflammatory subtype of atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma (ALT/WDL): This subtype is seen almost exclusively in the paratesticular region and retroperitoneum. It contains a dense lympho-plasmacytic infiltrate on a background of lipoma-like or sclerosing ALT/WDL. The inflammatory infiltrate may mask the real neoplasm and lead to a mistaken diagnosis of xanthogranulomatous inflammation or a hematopoietic neoplasm.
