Treatment & Prognosis: Pleomorphic liposarcoma is a highly aggressive tumor with a tendency to local recurrences. Metastases occur in 30-40% of cases, usually to lungs and pleura. The overall 5-yr survival rate is about 60%. Adverse prognostic indicators include advanced age, central location, large tumor size and high mitotic activity. The rare examples that are located superficially in the dermis or subcutis have excellent prognosis.
