Image Description

Gross Pathology: Hibernomas are well-circumscribed and encapsulated tumors ranging in size from 5 to 15 cm. The cut surface has a vaguely lobular, deep yellow to yellow-brown appearance. Note the contrast with mature yellow adipose tissue (white fat) to the right of the tumor in this image. The brown color is the result of rich vascular network as well as numerous mitochondria within the tumor cells.
