Image Description

Like nodular fasciitis and proliferative fasciitis, proliferative myositis is also a benign, self-limiting, reactive pseudosarcomatous myofibroblastic proliferation, most likely occurring in response to some kind of fascial or muscular injury. The history of trauma in the exact site of the lesion, however, is available only in a small percentage of cases. Local excision is sufficient treatment. Recurrences are rare. Some cases resolve spontaneously.
