Image Description

Immunohistochemistry: The myofibroblastic cells in fibrous hamartoma of infancy are positive for SMA and calponin but not desmin or S100 protein. The primitive mesenchymal areas as well as pseudoangiomatous foci (if present) stain for CD34.

The three tissue types can be recognized in this high magnification view - fibroblastic areas on the upper right, primitive mesenchymal tissue with a sprinkling of chronic inflammatory cells on the lower left and adipose tissue.
