Image Description

Microscopic Features - Fibrous Hamartoma of Infancy: Fat in an integral part of the lesion; however, the amount of mature fat varies from case to case. Some cases contain little or no fat and appear firm, grayish-white (grossly resembling desmoid-type fibromatosis). Others have a prominent component of adipose tissue and resemble fibrolipoma. This case had abundant fat infiltrated by fibroblastic fascicles. A nodule of primitive mesenchymal tissue is present on the lower right.
