Image Description

Carcinoids are usually well-circumscribed, round to oval masses that often project into the bronchial lumen. An endobronchial component is seen in about half of typical carcinoids and one-third of atypical carcinoids. This image shows intact respiratory mucosa overlying the tumor. In some cases, it may undergo squamous metaplasia.
