Adenosquamous Carcinoma
Image Description
Adenosquamous carcinoma of lung presenting in a 52 y/o male with history of chronic smoking. The patient presented with cough, chest pain, and weight loss. Imaging studies revealed a 5.0 cm mass in the lower lobe of left lung. The tumor was located peripherally and the overlying pleura had a puckered scar - both of these features are frequently associated with adenosquamous carcinomas of the lung. This variant comprises less than 10% of all lung cancers. Histologically, they show both squamous and unequivocal glandular components in about equal proportions.
