Intra-abdominal desmoplastic small round cell tumor shows t(11;22)(p13;q12) translocation which results in the fusion of Ewing Sarcoma gene (EWS) on 22q12 with Wilms Tumor gene 1 (WT1) on 11p13. The EWS-WT1 gene fusion can be detected by FISH or RT-PCR based tests. It also results in immunoreactivity for WT1 as shown in this photomicrograph.
