This lesion is from the mandible of a 65 y/o male. Plain films showed a multiloculated lesion. Ameloblastoma is derived from the ameloblasts - the epithelium that produces the crown of the tooth. Most cases occur between 3rd and 5th decades of life and involve the mandible. It is a locally aggressive tumor with tendency to recurrence. Low-power view shows proliferation of epithelial strands and sheets in a fibrous stroma.
