Ganglion : Introduction
Image Description
Introduction: Ganglion (ganglion cyst) is a superficially located, unilocular or multilocular cyst filled with clear mucinous fluid that usually occurs near the extensor surface of joints (most often wrist joint). It arises secondary to myxoid degeneration and softening of the connective tissues of the joint capsule or the tendon sheath.
This low magnification view of a ganglion removed from the wrist of a young female shows a collapsed cyst with a thick fibrous wall.
