Image Description

Hemangiomas of the bone are usually solitary lesions seen in adults. The most commonly involved bones include skull (shown here) and vertebrae. Rare cases involve multiple bones or be multifocal within a bone. Most cases are discovered incidentally. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and pathologic fractures. Grossly, they have bluish-purple color with sponge-like appearance.
