Image Description

Osteomas are benign bone-forming tumors that are composed of dense compact bone. The bones most commonly involved include the skull, the jawbones, and the sinuses. Skeletal osteomas form one of the components of Gardner syndrome (along with intestinal polyps, fibromas, Desmoid tumors, and epidermal cysts). Some of the osseous overgrowths are reactive in nature and not true osteomas. They may be seen in response to trauma, infection, or a nearby tumor.
