Image Description

Gliosarcoma is an exceedingly rare primary brain tumor consisting of both malignant glial as well as sarcomatous components. It represents about 2% of adult glioblastomas. It is analogous to carcinosarcoma arising in other locations and is thought represent mesenchymal metaplasia in a high-grade glioma. The epidemiology, presentation, and natural history are very similar to that of glioblastoma; however, it shows slight predilection for the temporal lobes.
