Dysembryoplastic Neuroepithelial Tumor
Image Description
Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor (DNT) is a benign tumor of childhood (mean age at presentation 9 yrs.) which is usually associated with a long history of seizures (partial complex type). Some consider them to be hamartomatous and not true neoplasms. They are usually supratentorial and intracortical and most frequently involve the temporal lobe. Grossly, they are composed of well-demarcated, gelatinous nodules limited to cortex. At low power, the gelatinous nodules are mucin-rich and positive for Alcian Blue.
