Histoplasmosis : Liver
Image Description
Liver in Disseminated Histoplasmosis: The yeast forms are present in abundance in sinusoidal Kupffer cells and portal macrophages. They are 1-3 μm in diameter and refractile and can resemble amastigotes of leishmaniasis on H&E stain. However, the amastigotes have a kinetoplast and do not stain with fungal special stains.
