Cutaneous Coccidioidomycosis
Image Description
Primary cutaneous coccidioidomycosis, caused by direct inoculation, is quite rare and is seen mainly in farmers, laboratory workers, nurses, and morticians. The lesions are firm and chancre-like (shown in this image) with regional lymphadenopathy. Other skin manifestations seen with coccidioidomycosis include toxic erythema, erythema nodosum, and erythema multiforme as a hypersensitivity response.
