Candida Esophagitis: Esophageal biopsy from a patient with candida esophagitis showing acutely inflamed squamous mucosa. The fungal pseudohyphae and budding yeast are barely recognizable in the debris (top of the image) on H&E stain but were readily seen with GMS stain.
