Image Description

Plantar warts are painful lesions occurring on the heels and other weight bearing parts of the feet, usually in children. They are only slightly elevated and appear as rough, hyperkeratotic lesions measuring 1-2 cm in size. They are often covered with black dots which represent thrombosed vessels - a manifestation of involution. Most are caused by HPV1.
