Image Description

Treatment of Jaw Lesions of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH): Most patients with jaw lesions and oral involvement have a unifocal disease, although other bones may be sometimes involved. Mandibular and maxillary lesions are often treated by curettage. For unresectable lesions, various treatment modalities have been tried, including low-dose radiation (not favored in pediatric patients), intralesional corticosteroid injections, and single or multiagent chemotherapy.

The image shows classic appearance of LCH consisting of an infiltrate of Langerhans cell histiocytes with their grooved or folded nuclei and numerous eosinophils in the background.
