Immunophenotype of breast-implant associated ALCL is similar to ALK-negative ALCL: CD30 (strongly +), ALK (-), CD3 (weak +/-), variable expression of other T-cell markers CD2, CD4, CD5, CD7, and CD8; CD20 (-), EMA (+/-), pancytokeratin (-), EBER (-), clusterin (+/-), TIA1 (+), granzyme B (+), CD43 (+), IRF4/MUM1 (+). T-cell receptor genes are usually clonally rearranged. Activating mutations in JAK1 and STAT3 have been reported.
