Image Description

Higher magnification of the previous case showing diffuse large B-cell lymphoma involving the terminal ileum. The tumor is composed of diffuse sheets of predominantly centroblasts with round, angular, or multilobated vesicular nuclei, multiple small nucleoli, and moderate amount of amphophilic cytoplasm. Between 10% and 50% of DLBCL have a concomitant component of MALT lymphoma and are thought to have arisen by transformation. Such cases appear to have better prognosis than de novo DLBCL.
