Burkitt Lymphoma : Breast
Image Description
Breast involvement can be seen in any of the three clinical settings of Burkitt lymphoma (endemic, sporadic, and immunodeficiency-associated). It affects mainly young to middle-aged females. Some cases of endemic Burkitt lymphoma may present with bilateral breast enlargement in African women, sometimes during pregnancy or post-partum. The morphologic features are identical to those seen elsewhere - diffuse sheets of medium-sized neoplastic cells with round or oval nuclei, clumped chromatin, one or more punctate nucleoli, high mitotic activity, and numerous apoptotic cells.
