Image Description

The salivary glands are exocrine glands composed of tubuloacinar units. These units consist of acini which produce the secretions and a duct system that carries the secretion to its destination - the oral cavity. The parotid gland contains predominantly serous acini and their ducts. Adipose cells are usually scattered throughout the gland.
