Image Description

Low power view showing tyrosine crystalline deposits reminiscent of petals of a flower. Tyrosine-rich crystals are commonly seen in pleomorphic adenoma, although they are not pathognomonic of this entity and can be seen in various malignant lesions such as adenoid cystic carcinoma, polymorphous low grade carcinoma, and terminal duct adenocarcinoma of salivary glands. Presence of tyrosine crystals has been also reported in benign lesions such as parotid cyst.
