Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma : Treatment

Treatment: Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is treated with local surgical excision. The excision is carried down to the periosteum to reduce the chances of recurrence (reported to be 15% to 20%). The resulting gingival defect is covered by repositioned flaps or connective tissue graft. This image of a POF shows bony trabeculae within a bland fibroblastic proliferation.
