Image Description

Introduction: Peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) is a common reactive, tumor-like growth that affects gingiva in teenagers or young adults. It consists of a bland fibroblastic proliferation associated with dystrophic calcification and reactive bone formation. In the past, it was considered synonymous with peripheral odontogenic fibroma which is now regarded as a distinct entity. POF is also not related to central ossifying fibroma.

The photograph shows POF in a 29 y/o female. Read case history in the next image.
