Treatment: Currently, there is no cure for laryngeal papillomatosis. The mainstay of treatment is surgical resection. The clinical course is marked by multiple recurrences over prolonged periods of time. The goals of treatment are to remove papillomas, decrease their spread, create a safe and patent airway, improve voice quality, and increase the time interval between recurrent surgeries.

Other treatment modalities include hormonal therapy, HPV vaccines, cautery, cryosurgery, carbon dioxide laser, interferon, and photodynamic therapy. Rare cases with extensive involvement require laryngectomy when the air passages are obstructed. Mortality is about 3%.
