Broad Ligament Leiomyoma
Image Description
Broad ligament is the most common extrauterine site for leiomyomas. The incidence is <1% of all uterine leiomyomas. Other extrauterine sites include round ligament, ovarian ligament and the ovaries.
Broad ligament leiomyomas are initially asymptomatic; however, if neglected, they can attain huge size and can mimic ovarian malignancy. Symptoms can include chronic abdominal/pelvic pain, compression of bladder and bowel with dysfunction, and menstrual irregularities.
