Various metaplasias, including tubal, eosinophilic, squamous and mucinous can be seen in both normal as well as hyperplastic/neoplastic endometrium. This image shows tubal metaplasia in a background of nonatypical endometrial hyperplasia.
The crowded, architexturally complex glands are lined by ciliated columnar cells with eosinophilic cytoplasm. In addition, interspersed among ciliated cells are round clear cells. These features are better appreciated in the next image.
