Image Description

Ovarian serous carcinomas can spread to the contralateral ovary, peritoneal cavity (often causing ascites), para-aortic and pelvic lymph nodes, liver, lung and pleura. The involvement of intestines and ureter can lead to obstruction and hydronephrosis respectively. Metastasis to umbilicus may manifest as Sister Joseph nodule.

The image shows a solid nest with comedonecrosis in a high-grade serous carcinoma of the ovary.
