Serous Borderline Tumor : Molecular Genetics
Image Description
Serous borderline tumors (SBT) are not linked to BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations. About 50% of cases contain somatic mutations in KRAS and BRAF genes.
The image shows a SBT with a complex pattern of proliferating glands and papillae. The glands may invaginate into the stroma and simulate the appearance of invasion when sectioned tangentially (pseudoinvasion).
