Image Description

Benign serous ovarian tumors with a prominent fibroblastic stromal component are called serous cystadenofibromas. There are borderline and malignant categories as well. The stroma is composed of bland spindled cells arranged in fascicles and storiform patterns in a collagenized background. The stroma may undergo luteinization and become functional or show osseous metaplasia. There is an association between benign and malignant adenofibromatous ovarian tumors and breast cancer and thyroid disorders.
