Image Description

Primary ovarian lymphomas are rare. Secondary involvement of the ovaries in a patient with generalized disease is more common. Most primary ovarian lymphomas in adults are diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, where as Burkitt lymphomas (shown here) predominate in children. Tumor cells have round nuclei, coarse chromatin, multiple nucleoli, and frequent mitoses. Numerous tingible-body macrophages create a starry sky pattern.
