Mucinous Borderline Tumor : Introduction

Mucinous borderline tumors (MBTs) of the ovary are large multicystic tumors lined by mucinous epithelium. They show greater degree of cytologic atypia and proliferative changes than those seen in benign mucinous tumors (cystadenomas) and lack destructive stromal invasion. They make up 10%-15% of all ovarian mucinous tumors (of the remainder, 80% are benign; adenocarcinomas comprise 5%-10% of cases).
