Nests of pleomorphic, mucin-filled, signet ring cells in a case of Krukenberg tumor of the ovary. The primary was diffuse adenocarcinoma (linitis plastic type) of the stomach. Depending upon the population under consideration, gastric adenocarcinomas account for 40-90% of all cases of Krukenberg tumors. Colorectal adenocarcinomas account for 15-20% of cases. Rare sources for Krukenberg tumor are carcinomas of breast, gall bladder, ampulla of Vater, small intestine, appendix, cervix, and urinary bladder.
