Image Description

Dysgerminoma in a 30 y/o female. Abdominal CT with contrast showed a 13.6 x 11.6 x 8.6 cm lobulated, heterogenously enhancing mass involving the left adnexa. There were scattered hypodense areas suggestive of necrosis. The mass extended into the lower abdominal cavity, indenting the superior wall of the urinary bladder. Serum LDH was 767 IU/L (ref. range 135-214 IU/L).

Macroscopic Features: Left oophorectomy specimen consisted of a pink-tan, multinodular solid mass measuring 13 x 11 x 6 cm and weighing 520 grams. On serial cut sections (see next image), it had lobulated, solid, yellow-tan to cream color appearance with scattered foci of cystic degeneration and necrosis (5% of tumor surface areas).
