Image Description

Myxomatous Pattern in Yolk Sac Tumor: Myxomatous pattern is closely related to and usually coexists with the microcystic pattern. Small cystic spaces and gland-like structures lined by flattened tumor cells are seen. They are surrounded by abundant vascular myxoid matrix containing scant numbers of stellate, spindle or epithelioid tumor cells. These cells are pluripotent and can show cytokeratin immunoreactivity as a mark of epithelial differentiation or they may mature into heterologous elements such as cartilage, bone, and skeletal muscle.
