Urothelial neoplasms of the upper urinary tract are treated with nephroureterectomy (shown here) or ureterectomy alone. This specimen shows a large papillary tumor in the lower renal pelvis and extending multifocally into the ureter. Note the hydronephrotic changes with thinning of the renal cortex and dilated calyces. See closeup in the next image.
