Image Description
Prostate adenocarcinoma may involve urinary bladder by direct extension. The image shows prostate cancer (Gleason grade 5+5=10) in the lamina propria of a bladder biopsy. The tumor cells lack pleomorphism and have soft pale eosinophilic cytoplasm in contrast to the dense, glassy pink appearance of high-grade urothelial cancer. Urothelial carcinomas are also more likely to show areas of squamous differentiation.
