The tumor cell nests are surrounded by delicate incomplete fibrovascular septa. The main differential diagnosis is with invasive urothelial carcinoma. When nesting pattern is seen in urothelial carcinomas, it is usually focal. Urothelial carcinomas will usually show a surface papillary component.
