Image Description

The stroma is fibrotic and contains chronic inflammatory infiltrate. The overlying urothelium is normal. Isolated fronds in a case of papillary/polypoid cystitis may be difficult to distinguish from urothelial carcinoma. Features favoring papillary cystitis include inflamed background, normal urothelial thickness lacking significant atypia, and non-branching broad-based fronds.
