Image Description
The invasive component consists of irregularly shaped nests of tumor cells within superficial lamina propria. The invading cells look different from those at the base of the tumor with more abundant, dense eosinophilic cytoplasm, pleomorphic nuclei, and prominent nucleoli. This phenomenon has been referred to as paradoxical differentiation.
